HUMAN RESOURCE AUDIT

Compensation Resources offers HR audits, which include a thorough review of the existing HR programs, policies, procedures. Our company practices, and provides clients with a comprehensive analysis of all aspects of the human resource functions and can assist you in determining where you may be subject to legal challenge and how you can establish sound human resource best practices.

The audit covers all areas of HR management, including compensation practices, performance management, recruitment and selection processes, discipline and determination. The audit identifies areas of compliance deficiencies, potential exposure and productivity improvements.

During a typical HR audit, CR may:

  1. Gather information on current HR practices by reviewing a company’s written materials and conducting interviews with key individuals. Typical areas of review include:
    • Existing human resource policies, procedures and guidelines
    • Employee handbooks and policy manuals, orientation procedures and communications
    • All records, record keeping, personnel files, job descriptions, time records and systems
    • Legal issues and government compliance requirements, including the need for government-mandated posters and compliance forms
    • Job descriptions, assignments, promotions and transfers, training and development, performance appraisal process and employee evaluations
    • Recruitment, selection and hiring procedures and advertising
    • Discipline and discharge of employees, including layoff procedures and terminations
    • Health and Safety
    • Employee relations/labor relations
    • Compliance with current employment law including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), sexual harassment (federal requirements), wage and hour compliance (Fair Labor Standards Act), COBRA, HIPAA, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Immigration and Reform Control Act
    • Workers’ compensation procedures including case management, modified duty, medical providers and insurance
  2. Assess the current HR practices from the information gathered and identify areas for improvement
  3. Develop a corrective action plan to improve the effectiveness of current HR practices
