Interim HR Case Study: HR Team Member Goes on Maternity Leave

An existing member of our client’s HR team was scheduled to go out on maternity leave. Their current responsibilities were payroll processing and compensation changes, employee benefit maintenance, employee relations, talent acquisition, and onboarding/offboarding employees. Our team utilized specific expertise to provide the following support:

  • Payroll Specialist:
    • Processed all payroll changes and produced bi-weekly payroll runs and verifications.
    • Administered monthly employee benefit reviews, administration, changes, additions, and subtractions.
  • Talent Acquisition Specialist:
    • Updated job descriptions.
    • Confirmed compensation ranges.
    • Placed job advertisements.
    • Screened candidates and presented the hiring manager with three qualified applicants for selection.
  • Human Resources Business Partner: Responsible for employee relations, onboarding/offboarding, and general HR-related issues.
  • Senior HR Manager: Oversaw the assignment, provided guidance and oversight, and reported to the CFO in the absence of the team member on leave.

At the conclusion of maternity leave, the Company decided to keep us on their team  to provide ongoing support at the fraction of the cost of hiring a full-time generalist.
