Last week an Executive Order was signed to expand apprenticeship programs and vocational training to close the skills gap in critical industries.  The Executive Order directs the Secretary of Labor to propose regulations in order to promote apprenticeship programs in such industries that have experienced significant skills gaps including manufacturing, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and healthcare.  The need to ensure a continuing stream of qualified, talented employees within these industries will help support businesses looking for employees in various trade professions.  Apprenticeship programs will provide options to younger members of the workforce who may consider a higher education out of reach, yet who are looking for fulfilling job options.  From an organizational standpoint, companies will benefit from employees completing apprenticeship programs, in reduced training time, greater productivity, and higher job satisfaction.
