The average base salary of CEOs at 60 randomly selected e-commerce, dot-com and communications companies that have completed their initial public offerings since the beginning of the year is $211,300. This is one of the findings in a recent independent study conducted by Compensation Resources Inc. (CRI).
Using information published in each company’s prospectus, CRI found that the average bonus for these CEOs was $103,200. The average total compensation package was $311,700.
The high-tech CEOs held an average of 565,300 securities underlying options/stock appreciation rights (SARs). After the IPO, they held an average of 4,326,700 beneficially owned shares. Their average percentage of class owned shares was 9.4 percent.
